Utah resident Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of writing Antifa-associated phrases, including "Hey fascist!" and "oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao," on fire casings, according to a report from the X account MrAndyNgo on September 12th. Robinson was taken into custody on September 12th in connection with the assassination of Charlie Kirk, which occurred on September 10th in Orem, Utah. The phrases reference an old Italian protest song adopted by Antifa. Robinson's father is reportedly from a "nice maga family," according to an X user named NorthenResister. The FBI Director Kash, via an X account, expressed condolences to Kirk, stating "To my friend Charlie Kirk: rest now, brother. We have the watch — and I'll see you in Valhalla." The Department of War also issued a statement on September 12th, asserting a zero-tolerance policy for military personnel or Department of War civilians who celebrate or mock the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Previous reports indicate that Robinson was apprehended after his father detained him until police arrived. President Donald Trump had previously stated that the suspect's father encouraged his surrender and announced the arrest on Fox News with "a high degree of certainty." Utah's governor is reportedly intent on pursuing the death penalty in the case. The manhunt concluded with the recovery of the shooter's weapon and ammunition near Utah Valley University. Bill Ackman had previously increased the reward for information leading to an arrest by $1 million.
