President Donald Trump previously called Kirk's killing "disgraceful" and announced plans to award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously. Vice President JD Vance participated in an honor guard for Kirk in Salt Lake City, Utah. Amidst the ongoing investigation, Senator Lindsey Graham urged the passage of legislation that would designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. Additionally, a statement attributed to Charlie Kirk on X, formerly Twitter, regarding the stoning of gay people, was highlighted. Criticism has also emerged regarding Palantir's alleged failure to track Kirk's assassin, with one user on X stating, "Palantir is fucking worthless." In the past 44 minutes, a social media post from an account identified as "hissgoescobra" criticized the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms for its perceived lack of knowledge regarding ammunition, specifically mentioning a misunderstanding of a headstamp on a cartridge.
