A United Nations mission has reported instances of forced nakedness and sexual abuse against detainees in Venezuela, with one victim alleging electric shocks to the genitals for confession. The mission also noted testimony from a detained man who reported sexual abuse of women and a circulated list of rates for sexual services from inmates, which could constitute sexual slavery or forced prostitution. These findings were detailed in fragments of the Mission of Determination of UN facts, shared on X by user Ulul4r. Separately, a denunciation on X by user RodriguezAranaJ on September 21st detailed the alleged kidnapping and forced disappearance of relatives by Venezuela's General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) starting September 19th. The user accused the Venezuelan regime of committing these acts, which they described as crimes against humanity, and vowed to identify officials responsible. The report lists nine individuals who have allegedly been taken, including parents, siblings, and cousins, with some reported missing since January 2025. These reports emerge following a period between 10:06 PM UTC and 1:06 AM UTC on September 23rd, during which journalist Orlando Avendaño reported at least three Sebin patrols surrounded the U.S. embassy in Caracas. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro had previously vowed to continue sending letters to U.S. President Donald Trump to "publicize the truth" about Venezuela and alleged that cocaine traffic originates from vessels linked to Ecuadorian banana companies. No official statements have been released by the Venezuelan government or the U.S. Department of State regarding the alleged human rights abuses or the embassy patrols.
