Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qasim stated on Jul 30th that the group will not accept the delivery of its weapons, asserting that those demanding it internally or externally are serving Israel. Qasim also called on the Lebanese state to increase its efforts against Israeli aggression and in reconstruction. Speaking on the group's stance, Qasim reiterated that Hezbollah's weapon is for resisting Israel and not for internal use, emphasizing that they "will not accept that Lebanon is attached to Israel" and will not allow Israel to "take Lebanon hostage." He further stated that their defensive position has "no limits" even if it leads to martyrdom, and that the ceasefire agreement in the south of the Litani River had gains for both Hezbollah and the enemy. Qasim outlined Hezbollah's objectives as liberating land from the enemy and building the state by representing citizens. He also mentioned the need to empower institutions, strengthen the army, and develop national and defensive strategies, declaring Lebanon a "final homeland for all its sons." Regarding reconstruction, Qasim indicated that rebuilding 7,000 apartments requires $40 million and that the country must assume its responsibilities. In separate but related news, Iran's new government withdrew its internet censorship bill following significant public criticism, according to reports. This development occurs as the civilian government also contends with worsening water shortages and an ongoing energy crisis.
