A fifth-year human medicine student, Wael Hassan Abu Boras, died under mysterious circumstances on Monday, July 28, 2025, while participating in combat courses organized by the Houthi group on the outskirts of Hodeidah Governorate, according to university sources. The student, originally from Ibb governorate, was reportedly an outstanding student who had recently undergone intellectual and military training sessions organized by the Houthi group on the University of Science and Technology campus in Sanaa, as stated by media of the local authority in Al-Hodeidah Governorate. University sources further indicated that the Houthi group has enrolled approximately 794 students from the University of Science and Technology in Sanaa into sectarian and military courses over the past two years, with over 200 of them being deployed to front lines through a program known as the "university student forum."
