The Iranian Parliament is set to review the nation's potential exit from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) on September 28th, 2025, with the possibility of reviewing atomic bomb construction at a later date, according to a statement from Man Kosari, a member of the National Assembly's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, in an interview with the Young Journalists Club. Kosari stated that a contract previously agreed upon in Cairo with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi will not be implemented. He indicated that the Majlis (parliament) will discuss and determine the exit from the NPT tomorrow, September 28th, if deemed necessary. The construction of an atomic bomb will be reviewed later and could be placed on the parliamentary agenda. This development follows recent diplomatic discussions concerning Iran's nuclear program. Earlier today, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock in New York to discuss the program, ahead of an October 5th deadline for international sanctions. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed frustration on September 27th, stating that European negotiators had reneged on agreements after consulting with the United States, impacting discussions about allowing IAEA inspectors and clarifying highly enriched uranium reserves.
