Danish police are investigating the possibility that a civilian aircraft, identified as OY-CDT, may have been involved in the drone activity that disrupted Copenhagen Airport on September 23rd, 2025. The aircraft reportedly flew over the runway twice, at 400ft, at 20:17 and 20:19 local time, shortly before the airport was closed due to drone reports at 20:26 local time. This new information emerged over the past hour from a social media post by user @TakeThatClouds, who suggested the aircraft's proximity and flight pattern were highly suspicious given the subsequent airport closure. The airport had resumed normal operations at 7:00 AM UTC on September 23rd, 2025, following unidentified drone activity between 6:05 AM and 7:05 AM UTC that led to 51 flights being diverted and 109 cancelled. Danish authorities previously suspected a "capable actor" launched drones from a ship at sea. Investigations are ongoing into the earlier drone incidents, with preliminary findings suggesting the drones may have originated from a vessel at sea and arrived from multiple directions. Danish Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen described the activity as "deeply serious and worrying," while Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen characterized it as a "violent attack" in the context of broader European tensions. Denmark and Norway are cooperating to determine if the incidents in Oslo and Copenhagen are connected. Malmö residents also reported drone alarms on the nights of September 22nd and 23rd, though police could not confirm sightings.
