The tornado was moving northeast at 20 mph, threatening Moss Point, Escatawpa, and Helena. This is a particularly dangerous situation, and residents in the warned areas were urged to take cover immediately. The tornado warning for these locations was set to continue until 10:45 AM CDT. The confirmation of the tornado was reported by multiple weather monitoring accounts on social media. Earlier in the day, around 8:45 AM EST, Hurricane Melissa was observed near Palisadoes strip in Kingston, Jamaica, and was forecast by the Deepmind model to reach Category 5 strength with peak wind speeds of 175 mph.
