One person was killed and another injured in a shooting incident at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Casas del Rio dormitory at 420 Redondo Dr NE in Albuquerque early on July 25, 2025. The University of New Mexico Police Department (UNMPD) responded to a report of gunshots fired around the early morning hours and discovered the two victims. The suspect remains at large and may still be on campus. As a precautionary measure, UNM has closed its central Albuquerque campus. The Health Sciences Center, including all clinical components, remains operational. Multiple law enforcement agencies are present at the scene and are actively investigating the incident. UNM is advising individuals to monitor their UNM email, text messages, and LoboGuardian for real-time updates. Anyone with information is urged to contact UNMPD at 505-277-2241. Authorities have confirmed that one victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The identity of the deceased and the injured individual have not yet been released.
