An Iranian drone strike killed Simko Kobani, a commander of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK), in the Qandil Mountains yesterday, according to PJAK's armed wing, the East Kurdistan Units (YRK), as reported by Roj News. Kobani, originally from the Hawraman region, was killed in the attack. Initial reports had incorrectly attributed the strike to Turkey. However, subsequent information from YRK clarified that Iran was responsible for the drone operation that resulted in Kobani's death. PJAK, an armed Kurdish opposition group, operates in the border regions between Iran and Iraq, including the Qandil Mountains. The group's armed wing, YRK, frequently engages in clashes with Iranian forces.
