Efforts to unify the Peshmerga forces have been intensified, with a decision made to merge and divide them into two distinct regions, Region One and Region Two, according to Channel8. Each region will comprise five military divisions, with an additional reserve division to remain under the direct control of the Ministry of Peshmerga, Channel8 reported. Both new regions will also be allocated their own support forces. The Great Zab River, which traverses the Duhok and Erbil provinces, has been designated as the separating line between the two reorganized regions. In total, all Peshmerga forces will be restructured into 11 divisions, with seven of these divisions having already been completed. The reorganization aims to enhance the unity and operational effectiveness of the Peshmerga forces.
