European Parliament Member Rima Hassan and activist Greta Thunberg arrived at Ashdod Port in Israel this morning, October 3rd, facing questioning by the Israeli Population Authority ahead of their second deportation back to Europe. Both activists were part of the Sumud Gaza Flotilla, which attempted to breach the naval blockade on the Gaza Strip. Hassan previously claimed Israeli water was toxic and demanded bottled mineral water. The final vessel from the Sumud Gaza Flotilla, the Marinette, was intercepted by the Israeli Navy earlier this morning and taken into custody. The Marinette had experienced mechanical issues and lagged behind the main group of 41 ships intercepted yesterday. Forces from the Shayetet 13 naval commando unit boarded the vessel, as shown in live stream footage. The interception of the Marinette marks the conclusion of the flotilla's attempt to breach the blockade. Meanwhile, Yasser Abu Baba announced his support for President Trump's program, stating that Hamas has rejected all proposals that would ease conditions in Gaza. He expressed hope that "the people and the strongest peace supporters in the world will attach their wishes to peace and end the disaster caused by Hamas ropes." This statement comes as Hamas reportedly remains divided on accepting President Trump's ceasefire plan and objects to a 72-hour deadline for handing over all hostages and bodies, according to N12 News. In parallel developments, the Israeli military announced yesterday that two Hamas operatives were killed in a drone strike in Gaza City after approaching Kfir Brigade troops. Footage of this incident was published by the military. These events occur amidst ongoing tensions and diplomatic efforts related to the conflict.
