The United Kingdom formally recognized the State of Palestine on September 21st, 2025, in what it described as an effort to revive hope for a two-state solution, according to a statement posted on X by Keir Starmer. This significant diplomatic move comes as French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in discussions with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia regarding the "New York Declaration on the two-state solution," adopted by 142 countries. Macron announced that he and the Crown Prince will co-chair a conference in New York on Monday, aiming to mobilize the international community toward achieving peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. In parallel, tensions persist in the region, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continuing operations in Gaza, neutralizing terrorists and destroying military infrastructure. Separately, Ghassan Duhine, associated with Yasser Abu Chabab, posted on Facebook photos of their militia kidnapping elements of the SAHM unit of Hamas and issued threats against Hamas members. The Israeli Navy is also reportedly preparing to interdict the #Global_Sumud_Flotilla. Earlier this morning, the Iron Dome system intercepted rockets fired from Gaza towards Ashdod. The Allenby Bridge crossing to Jordan was closed for passenger traffic following a deadly attack, in coordination with Jordanian and Palestinian authorities. Egypt has also announced border security measures in the Sinai Peninsula amid concerns of terrorism and smuggling, reiterating its refusal to expand military operations in Gaza or facilitate Palestinian displacement.
