A Yanshof-type transport helicopter crashed this morning near Amos in Gush Etzion while being lifted by a Yassor helicopter during a towing operation. The incident occurred between 6:46 a.m. and 9:46 a.m. UTC on January 16, 2026. There were no casualties, according to a report by Itay Blumental on X. The Owl helicopter, identified as the Yanshof-type, had made an emergency landing in the area a few days ago due to a malfunction. Field repair attempts failed, prompting the decision to airlift it using the Yassor helicopter, as stated in Blumental's update. The crash site was approximately 10 kilometers from the Amos settlement. Blumental described the event as a bizarre incident in the Air Force that could have resulted in disaster but caused no injuries.
