Turkish airstrikes and Syrian government forces fortifying Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo, alongside continuous attacks on SDF positions in Deir Ez-Zor, suggest a coordinated effort between Turkey and the Syrian government to target the SDF and Kurdish people in Rojava. These actions are occurring despite ongoing negotiations and assurances against armed conflict, according to a report from Scharo Maroof. Specifically, two Turkish airstrikes were reported, with the most recent targeting a position alongside the frontline between the SDF and Syrian government forces at the Tishreen Dam. This attack, which occurred at 03:23 AM this morning, follows a similar strike at the same strategic Syriatel tower and hill location, west of the Euphrates, on August 25th. The Syrian government forces have also been fortifying streets and buildings surrounding the Kurdish neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh in Aleppo, as stated by the report. President Ahmed Al-Shara commented on the situation in Aleppo, stating he was concerned about potential missteps by Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shi'a Al-Sudani regarding intervention in Syria. Al-Shara mentioned sending a message to reassure Al-Sudani and strengthen his position to prevent Iraqi factions from entering Syria, according to a statement posted on X by Qasemqt. U.S. envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, is reportedly leading mediation and unification talks, restricting other countries' interference. The report warns that escalating tensions could lead to a regional conflict, drawing in other actors, and criticizes miscalculations similar to those made regarding the Suweida military campaign against the Druze minority. The SDF is reportedly taking precautions in response to these developments.
