Iranians and affiliated groups including the Fatemiyoun Brigade built an underground tunnel network at Imam Ali base near Abu Kamal, Syria, 3-4 km from the Iraq border, footage posted by QalaatAlMudiq on X shows during the 30 minutes ending at 8:16 PM UTC on December 19, 2025. The tunnels, large enough to accommodate vehicles, served as a key weapons-smuggling route for IRGC-affiliated groups and Hezbollah, concealed from aerial surveillance, according to QalaatAlMudiq's X post. Separately, pro-Assad forces described as IRGC-aligned fighters dug an underground network under Saraqeb in eastern Idlib, with works stopped by the rebel takeover of the town, QalaatAlMudiq reported in the same post.
