Wildfires in the northeastern Syrian province of Latakia reached the Latakia-Aleppo Highway tonight, September 25th, 2025, before firefighting teams successfully split the blazes into three separate areas for more effective containment. The strategy to divide the fires into smaller pockets was executed earlier today, leading to their near-total extinguishment. According to a report posted on X by QalaatAlMudiq, the firefighting efforts in Jebal Turkman were intensified by splitting the fires. This action was taken in an attempt to combat the growing blazes more effectively. The fires are now reported to be almost completely extinguished. This development follows earlier activity in the region where Syrian Defense Ministry engineering units continued their work clearing war remnants in northeastern Latakia province. Those operations focus on removing explosives and hazardous materials left from past conflicts. The engineering units had been engaged in these efforts since the fall of the Assad regime and were received by the Governor this morning.
