Calm has returned to the Deir Hafer fronts in Aleppo following a period of artillery shelling and drone attacks by armed groups affiliated with the Damascus government, which deliberately targeted residential neighborhoods. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported these violations on October 6th, 2025, stating that the militants' assaults are an escalation following a previous "massacre" in Deir Hafer. This statement was released through the SDF's official X account. According to an SDF statement posted on X at approximately 12:05 AM UTC on October 6th, 2025, the ongoing conflict involves an "intense special war." The SDF clarified that footage broadcast by channels affiliated with HTS and MIT, suggesting renewed airstrikes in Raqqa, is old and misrepresented, with one video actually depicting an Israeli attack on Lebanon. Clashes in Deir Hafer have currently ceased. These developments follow earlier reports from October 5th, 2025, detailing ongoing clashes between the Syrian Army and the SDF on the Deir Hafer front. At that time, the SDF had stated that Damascus-affiliated militants initiated an attack with a suicide drone and a second drone targeting a patrol, injuring seven SDF fighters. Syrian government forces had also implemented road closures between SDF-controlled territories and Damascus, including the Ethria-Raqqa road, amidst military reinforcements from both sides.
