A 27-year-old Zhang Wen threw a smoke bomb at Beijie Taipei Station and randomly injured people at Eslite Department Store's Nanxi shopping district in Zhongshan Station on Friday evening, falling from the building, dying in hospital, and leaving four dead including himself plus six seriously injured overall, according to a Chinese news report issued over the past hour ending at 3:46 p.m. UTC. The injured were sent to National Taiwan University Hospital, Mackay Memorial Hospital, Shin Kong Hospital, and others for rescue, the report stated. This updates prior casualty figures of three deaths including the suspect and at least nine injuries from the attacks that began at 5:27 p.m. local time Friday at Taipei Main Station's M7 exit, as reported by TVBS and TaiwanPlus News earlier on Dec. 19. Police had found 25 Molotov cocktails in Zhang's hotel room following pre-attack arsons on his apartment, car, and motorcycles, per TVBS reports from the previous hour.
