The Chinese People's Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command continued its 'Justice Mission 2025' military drills around Taiwan Island for the second consecutive day on December 30, 2025, involving destroyers, frigates, fighters, bombers, and ground units in operations north, south, and east of the island to test joint capabilities and deter separatist forces, according to the PLA Eastern Theater Command. Starting early morning on December 30, the drills included identification, warning, expulsion, strikes on hostile vessels, fleet air defense, and anti-submarine warfare from air and waters north and south of Taiwan, with H-6K bombers simulating precision strikes on designated targets, as stated by the PLA Eastern Theater Command. In the afternoon, a flotilla from the PLA Southern Theater Command, led by an amphibious assault ship, joined Eastern Theater Command destroyers, frigates, and drones for joint drills on rapid landing operations and seizure of key ports east of Taiwan. Two ground troop units equipped with Long-range Multiple Launch Rocket Systems conducted live-fire drills covering waters north and south of Taiwan, achieving desired effects, according to the PLA Eastern Theater Command. Professor Zhang Chi of the Chinese PLA National Defense University stated the drills demonstrated the PLA's capability to cut off Taiwan's energy and resource imports and destroy separatist agendas at any time. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said the drills aim to deter separatist forces on the island seeking to build up its military capacity, according to the ministry.
