French President Emmanuel Macron condemned a Russian drone incursion into Polish airspace as "unacceptable" this morning, vowing solidarity with Poland and announcing an upcoming meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to address the safety of allies. The condemnation follows reports that multiple Russian drones violated Polish airspace overnight during a wider Russian aerial assault targeting Ukraine, with debris confirmed in locations including Cześniki, Zamość County. Macron stated, "We will not compromise with the safety of the allies." Overnight, Polish authorities confirmed the discovery of additional Russian drone debris in Cześniki, situated approximately 40 km from the Ukrainian border. This finding comes after a Russian drone reportedly damaged a house in Wyryki, Poland. Ukrainian officials described the drone incursions as part of a deliberate escalation by Russia, with targets noted as Lutsk and Lviv. Reports suggest a dozen or more Russian drones entered Polish airspace, with at least two shot down near Cześniki, east of Zamość. Romania has also raised its army readiness after detecting Russian drones near its border. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk had previously stated that Russian drones posing a direct threat were shot down and that airspace closures had been implemented in several areas, including Warsaw, Rzeszów, Lublin, and Modlin, before reopening with exceptions for the Lublin area. Poland is considering invoking Article 4 of the NATO treaty in response to the incursions. Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas characterized the incident as the most serious European airspace violation by Russia since the war in Ukraine began.
