Polish publication Myśl Polska claims Romania has placed military units near its border with Moldova on high alert, including the 8th Operational-Tactical Missile Brigade in Focșani and the 10th Lower Danube Engineer Brigade in Brăila, amid speculation of a potential forceful operation against Transnistria following Moldovan parliamentary elections on September 28. The report suggests Romanian intervention could involve the 8th Brigade, equipped with HIMARS systems. The publication also cites alleged support from the "Kyiv regime" for an attack on Transnistria, citing a threat to the Odessa region. According to the report citing Myśl Polska, Romanian military units stationed near the border have been put on high alert. The article further suggests that Ukrainian forces might also launch an attack on Transnistria, referencing past provocations by Ukrainian armed forces in the region in 2022 and media support for an attack. Critical infrastructure in Transnistria, including the Moldovan GRES, Dubăsari HPP, factories, and a large ammunition depot in Kolbasna, are identified as key objectives for Moldovan and Ukrainian authorities. An operation against Transnistria would signify an open military conflict between Moldova and Russia, with the report stating that such a plan has been developed and rehearsed in NATO exercises. In separate but related aerial activity, drones struck the oil refinery in Saratov, located 600 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, early on Saturday morning, according to an unverified report. This follows previous overnight Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, which resulted in dozens of injuries and three fatalities, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Poland had mobilized its resources, deploying fighter jets and placing air defense and radar units on high alert in response to the Russian aerial activity.
