Yesterday, Ukrainian Railways launched its first direct train services from Uzhhorod to Bratislava, Budapest, and Vienna, transporting 280 passengers. This development, marking the first European-standard rail line project since Ukraine's independence, aims to expand convenient European routes for Ukrainians, according to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The initiative was co-financed by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank. In parallel, the Lublin airport in Poland was temporarily closed due to "military activity." This closure occurred as widespread disruptions to card payment systems were reported across Poland, with listeners contacting RMF FM to report system failures. Specific details regarding the cause of the airport closure or the payment system failures were not immediately available. These events occurred within the same reporting window that saw Ukrainian forces conduct air operations over the Donetsk region, deploying managed aviation bombs. Earlier in the day, Ukrainian drones had also struck the Novo-Ufa Oil Refinery in Ufa, Russia, causing visible flames and smoke, according to multiple social media reports. The refinery has a capacity of 7.5 million tons of oil per year and is located over 1,350 km from the frontline.
