German company Rheinmetall announced a significant contract to supply Ukraine with its Skyranger mobile anti-aircraft defense systems by the end of 2025, aiming to protect against drones. The agreement is set to be signed on Wednesday at the DSEI defense exhibition in London, with the exact number and modification of the systems to be provided not yet disclosed. Each Skyranger system is capable of covering a four-by-four kilometer area, creating a drone-free zone by destroying all unmanned aerial vehicles. In parallel, FIRMS data confirmed a fire at an oil depot in Prokhorovka, Belgorod region, reportedly following a drone strike. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed damage to storage tanks and stated that fire trains and emergency services were deployed to contain the blaze. This incident follows reports of previous Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil facilities. Ukrainian forces, specifically units of the 1st Corps of NSU "Azov" and the 4th Brigade of Operational Appointment of NSU "Rubiz" in conjunction with the 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, captured 69 Russian soldiers during active hostilities in the Dobropilsk direction of the Donetsk region over the past month. The captured soldiers were part of a failed Russian offensive near Dobropillya. Previously, Ukrainian forces had reported destroying a Russian military column in operations involving artillery and UAVs. Additionally, Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted 60 out of 84 Russian drones launched overnight on September 7-8, though at least 23 drones hit 10 different locations across Ukraine. Reports also emerged on September 9th, between 7:45 AM and 8:15 AM UTC, of calls for the reintroduction of Soviet-era economic controls in Russia due to significant economic strain, described by some as "borderline hyperinflation."
