Russian air defense forces shot down a drone approaching Moscow at approximately 10:00 PM UTC on October 26th, 2025. Emergency services are working at the site where debris fell in the capital. This incident occurred as radar detected approximately 20 jet UAVs transiting the Bryansk region in the direction of Oryol, Kaluga, Tula, and ultimately the Moscow region. Over the past hour, a widespread UAV alert has been in effect across the entire Moscow region, including the city of Moscow itself, according to multiple radar monitoring channels. Mobile air defense crews were reportedly active near the Kremlin. Similar UAV alerts were also issued for Saratov and Engels. In a separate development, President Vladimir Putin stated in remarks published by the Kremlin that Russia has taken a step towards deploying its nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile. The timing of this statement relative to the drone activity is not immediately clear. Previous reports from earlier in the evening indicated UAV alerts across multiple regions, including the Moscow, Saratov, and Leningrad regions. Mobile air defense was also reported active in the Kremlin area. Earlier in the day, strategic aviation movements were observed, and there were reports of "Shahed-136/131" type UAVs being launched from the Kursk nuclear power plant. Volgograd airport had also implemented temporary restrictions due to UAV activity, and a drone strike had damaged the Belgorod Reservoir dam, causing significant flooding.
